I have a desire to understand your struggles, to facilitate an awareness of your own experience, to help you illuminate meaning in your life, and to reduce your suffering. My mission is to inspire others to achieve a worthwhile purpose and grow personally, professionally, emotionally and spiritually by using my own compassion, unique perspective, and belief in others’ inherent goodness and enormous potential.
I am passionate about working with clients with disordered eating and those who have experienced trauma. I have done extensive postgraduate training in counseling, eating disorders and trauma through a series of courses, institutes, research, workshops and seminars. I have become an advocate for maternal mental health and hope to help people better understand postpartum depression.
Although I use an eclectic and holistic approach to therapy I have been specifically trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT,) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT,) Internal Family Systems (IFS,) Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR,) and the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model. I hope to integrate mind, body and spirit with evidence-based approaches to assist you in finding your true positive potential and facilitate the deepening of your experiential awareness.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Often times individuals struggling with an addiction, including eating disorders, feel alone. They are told over and over to "just stop!" Dr. Devaraj understands that "just stopping" is not an option. We will work together in a supportive and non-stigmatic way to help you regain hope and recover.
